The Decumanus Gallery has announced the opening of the exhibition “When Color Speaks” by Mateo Balaban (Rain Bordo) on Friday, February 20th at 6:00 PM. The exhibition is conceived as a synthesis of painting and poetry, or rather the premiere meeting of the author’s coloristically intensive visual compositions and poetic words. Color, independent and silent, will on this occasion enter into a lively symbiosis with words. Paintings that have carried their secrets for years in layers of pigment and gestures will here gain a voice – poems that reveal the author’s inner world, his ethical quests and the emotional storms from which the works spring. Just as a picture speaks a thousand words, with this intermedial installation words will liberate the unspoken, in order to enable us not only to see, but also to hear what the color whispers or perhaps shouts.

Mateo Balaban (Rain Bordo) is a Croatian painter and poet whose work is based on the exploration of emotion, empathy and humanism. In his artistic expression, he combines painting and poetry into a single whole, creating new works with a strong symbolic and emotional charge. Mateo Balaban has so far exhibited at solo and group exhibitions in Croatia, and his work includes paintings, poetry and multimedia projects. The exhibition “When Color Speaks” will be open until March 12, every weekday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm or with prior notice to the organizer by phone at 0038551220041, or by e-mail at: kultura@gradkrk.net.
